In 2013 Harbourfront Wealth America CEO Danny Popescu founded his investment business in Vancouver, and based it on what has been a revolutionary idea in Canada: making it possible for retail investors to harvest the benefits of pension-type investment vehicles such as private equity, private real estate and private credit.

In Canada, Harbourfront Wealth Management is one of the fastest growing independent dealers, on track to reach an enterprise value of nearly $2 billion by 2027. By 2022, the enterprise value of the investment firm had risen to $425 million, when the Boston-based private equity firm Audax Group bought a stake in the company.
Danny launched Harbourfront Wealth Management with an $11 million personal investment. He directs all operations of the firm, including its IIROC member investment dealer, asset management firm, and Harbourfront Wealth America divisions.
Danny Popescu believes in bringing prosperity, security and opportunity to retail investors across North America. He is not simply a CEO and director of a top-tier investment firm, but an active leader whose talent, enthusiasm and creativity is key to the success of each mission he undertakes.
Before founding Harbourfront, Danny built and managed one of Vancouver’s largest private wealth management practices. By the time he was 32 years old, he ranked as the number one advisor at Canada’s largest asset management firm.
At 33 years of age, Danny became a partner at a national investment firm. At age 39 he was named one of Business in Vancouver’s Top Forty under 40. At age 46 he was named one of Canada’s Top 50 Industry Leaders of 2021 by Wealth Professional.
In addition to his record of achievement in business and finance, Danny Popescu believes in the importance of philanthropy. He started the Harbourfront Gives Foundation as a way to lift up people in need, give back to the community and improve the world around him.
Danny, his family and the Harbourfront Wealth Management team established the Harbourfront Gives Foundation as a vehicle for supporting a range of deserving organizations, including health, children, education and community development charities.
Danny’s support for the Harbourfront Gives Foundation is active in every sense. In 2006, in an effort to raise funds and awareness for the British Columbia Children’s Hospital, he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak.
He has also raced in the Test of Metal, a 67-kilometer bicycle race along the mountain roads of British Columbia, to help the Canadian Diabetes Association raise funds for diabetes treatment and research.
